Batimat Installation 2020
This exhibition installation by Fruktov Interiors explores architectural principles later applied to residential interiors and custom homes. The installation by Fruktov Interiors at Batimat is conceived as a restrained architectural environment rather than a conventional exhibition stand. The space is organized through a precise rhythm of vertical openings, forming a perimeter that recalls a contemporary interpretation of a colonnaded structure. This repetition establishes a quiet monumentality within a temporary context.
The architecture is built through proportion, alignment, and calibrated voids rather than visual excess. A sequence of columns defines a threshold between the public flow of the exhibition and a more introspective interior. From the outside, the structure reads as a solid volume with controlled perforations; from within, it unfolds as a layered spatial experience.
Each opening frames a fragment — a table, a bed, a sculptural light — creating a series of composed views. Movement through the space becomes a gradual reveal, shifting between compression and openness, shadow and light.
At the core, a central composition anchors the system. A monolithic table sits beneath a cluster of suspended luminaires, where delicate vertical forms introduce tension against the grounded mass below. Together, they define a calm but distinct focal point.
Materiality is reduced and tactile. Textured stone surfaces, warm neutral tones, dark structural elements, and restrained accents of leather and textiles create depth through subtle variation rather than contrast.
The spatial logic can be read as a contemporary, softened interpretation of a temple-like structure. Repetition and proportion establish order, while openness maintains accessibility and human scale.
Furniture is placed with deliberate economy. Each element carries compositional weight, reinforcing the idea of natural presence rather than staged decoration.
Light acts as a structural tool, defining edges, revealing textures, and reinforcing spatial hierarchy. The darker ceiling plane and softly illuminated walls enhance depth and enclosure.
Despite its temporary nature, the installation is conceived as a lasting spatial experience — calm, legible, and grounded in proportion. It holds attention not through complexity, but through clarity and quiet architectural presence.
These principles inform the studio’s work on private residential projects, including custom homes and renovations.
