Vavilova Urban Residence is a contemporary apartment in Moscow designed by Fruktov Interiors as a full-service residential interior project. Located on the 11th floor of a modern building, the home serves as a calm retreat for a multigenerational family visiting the city.

The original plan was narrow and elongated, with a panoramic corner window overlooking the Russian Academy of Sciences. The primary challenge was to accommodate three bedrooms, including primary, guest, and children’s rooms, while preserving a generous and light-filled kitchen, dining, and living space organized around the view.

The layout was completely reconfigured to create clearly structured private rooms and a cohesive central living area. Circulation is discreet and intuitive, allowing the apartment to feel both contained and fluid.

The guiding idea is complex simplicity, a layered environment that appears effortless. Instead of introducing visual statements, the design reduces visual tension through proportion, material continuity, and precisely detailed custom millwork.

A restrained palette of warm gray-beige tones, deep blue accents, American walnut, and ebony veneer creates depth without excessive contrast. Surfaces transition quietly from one zone to another, allowing the panoramic window to remain the architectural center of gravity.

In the living area, the kitchen recedes into the architectural envelope and integrates seamlessly with the open-plan layout. A sculptural walnut dining table anchors the space, while the seating area is subtly lowered to emphasize horizontality and the experience of the view.

The primary bedroom is defined by texture and rhythm. Seamless textile wall panels soften the geometry, while a custom three-meter walnut console combines storage, workspace, and vanity functions within a single architectural element. The bathrooms use natural materials, large-format porcelain, and concealed systems to maintain visual clarity.

Although compact in size, the apartment feels measured and spatially generous. The project reflects Fruktov Interiors’ approach to contemporary residential design, complex apartment planning, and custom detailing, creating an interior that does not demand attention but sustains it over time.
