Vavilova Urban Residence is a contemporary urban apartment designed by Fruktov Interiors as a full-service residential interior project. Located on the 11th floor of a modern building in Moscow, the 1,184 sq ft home serves as a calm retreat for a multigenerational family visiting the city.

The original plan was narrow and elongated, defined by a panoramic corner window overlooking the Russian Academy of Sciences. The primary task was to accommodate three bedrooms — master, guest, and children’s — while preserving a generous, light-filled open kitchen-dining-living space anchored by the view.

The layout was completely reconfigured to create clearly structured private rooms and a cohesive central living area. Circulation is discreet and intuitive, allowing the apartment to feel both contained and fluid.

The guiding idea of the project is complex simplicity — a layered environment that appears effortless. Rather than adding visual statements, we focused on reducing visual tension. Proportion, continuity of materials, and custom millwork define the interior more than decoration does.

A restrained palette of warm gray-beige tones, deep blue accents, American walnut, and ebony veneer creates depth without contrast overload. Surfaces transition quietly from one zone to another, allowing the panoramic window to remain the architectural center of gravity.

In the living area, the kitchen recedes into the architectural envelope, integrating seamlessly into the open-plan layout. A sculptural walnut dining table anchors the space, while the seating area is subtly lowered to emphasize horizontality and the experience of the view.

The master bedroom is defined by texture and rhythm. Seamless textile wall panels soften the geometry, and a custom three-meter walnut console integrates storage, workspace, and vanity into a single architectural element. Bathrooms combine natural materials, large-format porcelain, and concealed systems to maintain visual clarity.

Although compact in size, the apartment feels measured and spatially generous. This project demonstrates Fruktov Interiors’ expertise in contemporary residential interior design, complex urban apartment planning, and custom detailing.
